Horticulture Instructor Pool-Part-Time

North Orange County Community College District is accepting applications for part-time Horticulture Instructors at Fullerton College.

Fullerton College is the oldest community college in continuous operation in California, serving a diverse student body with over 55.7% Latinx, 16.6% Caucasian, 15.7% Asian/Pacific Islander, 3.1% African American, and 0.2% American Indian/Alaskan Native students. Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in horticulture as a part-time instructor.
• Engage in culturally responsive teaching, particularly addressing equity gaps for racially minoritized groups within horticulture.
• Support the college’s mission of student success through academic and career pathways.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment; OR
• Any associate degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment; OR
• Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area; OR
• Equivalent qualifications as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

All degrees must be from accredited postsecondary institutions and verifiable on a legible transcript. Foreign degrees and/or coursework require evaluation.

• Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in horticulture, with a focus on relevance to students’ lives, interests, and communities.
• Demonstrated ability to address equity gaps for racially minoritized groups within horticulture.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Pay

• Lecture unit rate: $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per unit (Column 1 – Column 3, depending on education).
• Lab parity unit rate: $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per unit.
• Lab unit rate: $1,258.16 – $1,380.60 per unit.

This is a part-time, temporary position with a variable percentage of employment.
