About the role
The Washington State Department of Agriculture is seeking twenty-five (25) full-time non-permanent Agricultural Inspector 1 positions within the Plant Protection Division. These positions are located in Yakima, Washington and are not represented by a union.
Responsibilities
- Drive to farms and warehouses as assigned; pick up samples individually or with a group and return samples to lab.
- Sample hops per USDA GIPSA requirements.
- Maneuver bales of hops, push out of cores, box core samples.
- Label samples, complete worksheets, maintain tallies of samples taken and lot numbers.
- Input data accurately using state issued tablet and specialized software.
- Complete required training and follow state agency rules for timekeeping and travel.
- Input precise hours worked into PISCES timekeeping system.
- Create TEMS records for POV mileage reimbursements.
- Take USDA Acts & Regulations sampling exam.
Qualifications
- Valid drivers license & proof of vehicle insurance.
- Ability to pass USDA Acts & Regulations and Sampling exam.
