Hood Technician

About the role

The Hood Technician position at Summit Fire & Security is responsible for assisting in the cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust systems, conducting inspections, and performing maintenance tasks. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Work after hours to clean grease from cooking exhaust systems
• Inspect and clean kitchen exhaust systems, including fans, roof, filters, and other components
• Drive to and from job sites and shops
• Fill out necessary paperwork
• Keep trucks and machinery in good working order
• Take photos of work performed
• Perform routine maintenance tasks
• Get to scheduled appointments on time
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Leadership skills and ability to motivate and provide direction
• Light mechanical ability
• Critical and safety-forward thinking skills
• Collaboration and ability to work with all levels of employees
• Strong diligence and accuracy in communication

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs
• Kneel, lift up to 60 lbs
• Reach above and below shoulders
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time
• See in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus
• Balance, crouch, drive, lift over 60 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights
• Work outside in hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise
• Occasionally work indoors in an office setting
• Must consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment
