About the role

The Hood Technician position at Summit Fire & Security is responsible for assisting with and supervising the cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust systems. This role involves working after hours, often alone, interacting with restaurant management and staff, and performing various tasks including inspections, clean-up, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Work after hours once facilities are closed, in and outside
  • Interact professionally with restaurant management and staff
  • Take photos of work
  • Drive to and from job site and shop
  • Fill out paperwork
  • Keep truck and machine in working condition
  • Clean kitchen exhaust systems including fans, roof, filters
  • Work safely with ladders and chemicals
  • Get to per-scheduled appointments on time
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate, provide direction, required
  • Light mechanical ability, preferred
  • Collaborate and work with all levels of employees
  • Strong diligence and accuracy in communication
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
  • Comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift up to 60 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • See in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus
  • Balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift over 60 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights
  • Regularly work outside, exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise
  • Occasionally work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others
  • Must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations
