Hood Cleaning Technician

About the Role

The Hood Technician position is responsible for cleaning the grease off the cooking exhaust systems of commercial kitchens and performing supervisory functions relating to crews.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning kitchen exhaust systems including fans
• Working after hours once facilities are closed, both indoors and outdoors
• Working alone with a helper, interacting professionally with restaurant management and staff
• Performing inspections, clean-up, and maintenance tasks
• Taking photos of completed work
• Driving to and from job sites and the shop
• Filling out paperwork and maintaining truck and equipment in working condition
• Working safely on roofs, with filters, ladders, and chemicals
• Attending pre-scheduled appointments on time
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• 1 year of hood cleaning experience (strongly preferred)
• Light mechanical ability (preferred)
• Experience working with hand and power tools
• Critical and safety-forward thinking skills
• Ability to collaborate and work with employees at all levels
• Strong diligence and accuracy
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to comply with drug and alcohol policy and background screening requirements

Skills

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with employees and customers

Physical & Work Environment

• Frequent bending, ascending/descending ladders and stairs, kneeling, lifting up to 60 lbs, reaching above and below shoulders, standing, and walking for extended periods
• Occasional balancing, crouching, driving, kneeling, lifting over 60 lbs, sitting, stooping, twisting, and working at heights
• Ability to see in color, at close and far distances, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
• Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise
• Occasional indoor office work, working alone, or with others
• Consistent use of personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies
