Homemaker/Companion - Weekend Schedule
Right At Home In Home Care, located in Wallingford CT, is seeking Homemakers, HHAs, Companions, CNAs, and PCAs to provide care to elderly clients in their homes. Targeted areas include Wallingford, Meriden, Middletown, Southington, Cheshire, Waterbury, Naugatuck, Watertown, Woodbury, and surrounding areas. This is a great opportunity for high school seniors, college students, retirees, and veterans.
About the Role
The ideal candidate should have 6 months or more of documented caregiving experience. Training will be provided to teach you everything you need to succeed on the job. You’ll assist clients with daily activities, including but not limited to:
- Assistance with eating, personal hygiene, dressing, and shaving
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and other household chores
- Meal preparation
- Medication reminders
- Assistance with prescribed range-of-motion exercises
- Dementia care
- Companionship activities such as reading, music, and puzzles
You should be honest, energetic, approachable, and able to communicate easily with people at all levels. You’ll thrive in a positive work environment, cope well under pressure, and take pride in your work.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a full employment background check
- Basic computer skills
Nice to Have
- CNA or HHA certification
- 6 months of experience as a caregiver/home health aide in healthcare (preferred)
- COVID-19 vaccination
- CPR and First Aid certification
Pay
$17.50–$22.00 per hour
