Homeless Services Diversion Worker

About the role

As a Diversion Worker with Utah Community Action (UCA), you'll assist individuals and families at risk of homelessness to find safe, stable housing, often before they ever need to enter shelter. You'll be the first friendly face offering hope, guidance, and connections to community resources, financial aid, and long-term housing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Has empathy and compassion for people from all walks of life
• Stays organized, dependable, and ready to assist where needed
• Communicates clearly and calmly, even in challenging situations
• Works well independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Uses technology comfortably (Word, Excel, email, databases)
• Knows (or is eager to learn about) community resources and referral processes

Work Environment

• Office and shelter-based settings, with occasional outdoor events in all seasons
• Mostly sitting, with some standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Requirements

• Background check
• Drug/alcohol screening
• Sex offender and child abuse registry checks

As a federally funded organization, we are subject to applicable federal requirements. Although certain substances may be permitted under state law, federal requirements apply to employment with the organization.

Pay

$20.19/hour

Schedule

Four 10-hour shifts per week, including one weekend day
