Homecare Assistant (Virtual)
We are seeking a mature, responsible, motivated, and detail-oriented Home Care Assistant to join our growing home care agency. We provide non-medical home care to seniors and disabled persons, allowing them to age and/or heal in place. This position is through an NCWorks WIOA program and includes full-time on-the-job training (OJT) for individuals eager to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in healthcare operations.
Program Eligibility Requirements
- Be a resident of Mecklenburg County
- Able to provide required government-issued identification
- Meet income and eligibility requirements (as determined by NCWorks/WIOA)
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate is an innovative team player who can contribute valuable ideas while also working independently with minimal oversight. This role requires a strong interest in learning the operations of a business dedicated to helping others. Open and honest communication, including the ability to provide and accept constructive feedback, is essential for ongoing learning and growth.
Communication (Primary Responsibility)
- Serve as the main point of contact for calls, texts, and messages
- Route urgent or complex issues appropriately
- Liaison professionally and effectively with office colleagues, corporate back office staff, registered nurses, caregivers, and clients
Organization & Documentation
- Maintain accurate client and caregiver files
- Track and follow up on missing paperwork
- Ensure documentation is complete and organized
System & Record Management
- Ensure visits, notes, and records are properly entered
- Keep systems accurate and up to date
Coordination & Support
- Coordinate caregiver orientations
- Coordinate training and assessments (both virtual and with RN staff)
- Assist in maintaining compliance with documentation requirements
Compliance & Follow-Up
- Send reminders to ensure documentation and clock-ins are completed
- Support audit readiness by keeping records organized
Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a high school or general education diploma
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (mandatory)
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion (HIPAA compliance)
- Computer proficiency, including MS O365, and the ability to learn new applications to support the business
- Excellent phone and interpersonal communication (verbal and written)
- Problem-solving and flexibility under pressure
- Strong organization, attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization skills
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Prior experience in home health care, non-medical home care, or a medical environment (preferred)
- Prior administrative experience (required)
