Responsibilities

• Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil codes.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products throughout the store.
• Maintain knowledge of products, respond to inquiries, and make suggestions.
• Understand and navigate the store layout to locate products.
• Maintain Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) to company standards.
• Stay updated on current, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
• Demonstrate creative merchandising.
• Condition products in assigned sections according to company policy.
• Perform cashier functions.
• Ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, and associate/customer engagement rules.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.

Qualifications

• Retail experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing) is a plus.

Requirements

• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math: counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Must meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
• Must be 18 or older.
