Temporary position reporting to the Building Principal and/or Chief Student Services Officer.
About the Role
Facilitate learning by providing instruction to home-bound students; teach and present subject matter accordingly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university
- Appropriate State of Ohio licensure
- Alternative qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of students
- Teach and evaluate students using sound instructional practices
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required
- Provide guidance and counsel to students to promote their welfare and proper educational development
- Distribute homework assignments
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners
- Act as teacher and facilitator
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student grades
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
- Attend meetings and in-services as required
- Observe the ethics of the teaching profession; exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment
- Instruct students in the locations and at the times designated
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents
- Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
- Utilize assignments/materials prepared by classroom teachers to tutor students within allowable guidelines
- Interact with the public in an official capacity when required
- Interact with the Superintendent and/or Board of Education and present information as requested
- Serve as a role model for students
- Respond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate manner
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships
- Attend professional growth seminars, workshops, etc., to keep current on relevant issues
- Counsel, advise, encourage, and motivate students
- Interact with other departments and school personnel when necessary
- Discipline students when necessary
- Refer attendance, health, and psychological and emotional problems to the Principal and/or Guidance Counselor
- Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Working Conditions
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Occasional interaction among unruly children
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 25 pounds, e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment
- Frequently move and position oneself as necessary to access and operate equipment
- Frequently move around the workspace and travel throughout the school building and/or the school district
- Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions
Pay
$38.55 per hour
