Home Infusion Nurse (PRN)

About the role

This position is for a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) providing home infusion therapy. Under supervision, responsibilities include patient assessment, IV and port access, medication administration, and patient education. The nurse supports pharmacy operations through quality control, record maintenance, inventory management, and medication preparation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver in-home infusion therapy, including administering medications via IV or subcutaneous routes.
• Monitor patients during and after infusions, promptly addressing adverse reactions or complications.
• Conduct pre-treatment assessments, evaluate vital signs, and review medical histories for safe therapy.
• Educate patients and caregivers on medication use, side effects, and emergency responses.
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, patient responses, and education provided.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure quality care and effective treatment plans.
• Ensure medication safety, proper handling, and adherence to infection control protocols.
• Manage inventory levels and assist with insurance verification and authorization processes.
• For IgCN-certified nurses, participate in mentorship, training, and competency assessments for immunoglobulin therapy.

Qualifications & Skills

• Must have a valid RN license with at least 2 years of experience, including 1 year in infusion, hospital, or home health settings.
• Experience with accessing and maintaining ports or PICC lines is required.
• Critical thinking skills, ability to multi-task, and a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation are essential.
• Participation in background checks and drug screening is required.
