About the role

The NHC Home Midlands is seeking a Home Health Aide to provide personal care services to patients in their homes under the guidance of a Registered Professional Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Renders personal care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Performs tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, skin care, hair care, and dressing assistance.
• Assists with elimination needs, including using bedside commodes, bedpans, and helping patients move to and from the bathroom.
• Supports repositioning, transfers, and ambulation using appropriate equipment.
• Care for prosthetic and orthotic devices as directed.
• Performs routine dressing changes without the need for licensed nurse skills.
• Administers medications that do not require licensed nurse skills.
• Carries out prescribed exercises with proper instruction and supervision.
• Maintains a hygienic living environment by preparing meals, feeding patients, cleaning utensils, and laundering bed linens and clothing.
• Collaborates with other healthcare professionals in ongoing patient care coordination.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

• Active South Carolina Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with home health aide training hours.
• Completion of the ninth grade in school.
• Successful completion of a training program totaling at least 75 hours, including 16 hours of classroom instruction and 16 hours of supervised practical training.
• Passing a HomeCare Aide Competency Evaluation before performing patient care independently.
