Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work both in the field and occasionally in an office setting, providing hands-on leadership and mentorship to the team.
- Plan, prioritize, and coordinate horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks.
- Lead and assist with landscape installation, restoration, and maintenance projects.
- Supervise and assist in all stages of plant cultivation, planting, and maintenance.
- Oversee pest, disease, and weed control programs.
- Maintain and develop grounds, gardens, ornamental beds, turf areas, and water features.
- Care for trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and turf areas.
- Ensure safe working conditions by identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain daily and weekly labor logs for employees.
- Affiliate with administrative responsibilities including recordkeeping, budget preparation, and evaluations.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve operational efficiency and team collaboration.
- Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, residents, and contractors.
- Observe work activities to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Work cooperatively with other departments as needed.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of background and credit check.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture and grounds maintenance procedures.
- Experience operating power equipment and machinery including: small power and hand tools, mowers, tractors, woodchippers, chainsaws, and other snow removal equipment, among others.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties and shift priorities without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Knowledge of proper pruning techniques, turf management, planting, and ornamental plant care.
- Familiarity with perennial and annual care, rose care, and native plant ecosystems.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
