HIV Early Intervention Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Provide HIV and other testing, counseling, education, and referral services to patients of SCMHC and to the general public through community events, outreach, and other collaborative agencies.
  • Provide prevention interventions, education, and resources relative to sexually transmitted infections within SCMHC and through community events, outreach, and other collaborative agencies.
  • Provide necessary support to physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, behavioral health (BH) providers, and support staff engaged in treating HIV patients at SCMHC.
  • Accurately collect, track, and report HIV/AIDS (and other testing) data within SCMHC and to required health agencies (Health Dept., CDC, HRSA, etc.) ensuring compliance with annual HIV testing per 340B protocol.
  • Educate clients regarding diagnosis, medications (including prep), treatments, and testing.
  • Schedule patients for initial and ongoing prep appointments.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments for clients seen on day of service.
  • Keep HIV testing up to date as required annually.
  • Upon monthly audit, all due testing will be documented.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Florida Department of Health (Palm Beach County) HIV/AIDS 500/501 Certification
    • A minimum of one-year experience in a Human Services field providing outreach and supportive case management services to at-risk, indigent, and/or homeless population (advocacy, housing placement, etc.), preferably working with HIV+ population and/or population(s) at high risk for HIV infection.
    • Comfortable working with LGBTQ+ population and settings where LGTBQ+ population frequent
    • Pass Level 2 Background through DCF and AHCA Clearinghouse.
