The role is based in the Pathology Lab, where laboratories operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, performing more than 19 million tests a year for IU Health and hospitals and physicians nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Produces high quality microscopic slides of tissues received while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Performs all necessary duties and procedures required for the processing of specimens for diagnostic and research purposes.
• Identifies tissue structure and cell components for use in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.
• Performs complex immunohistochemistry procedures to aid in diagnosis.

Requirements

Associate's Degree in Histology is preferred. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) through ASCP, or 5 years additional experience/education with certification as a Histotechnician (HT) through ASCP will be considered in lieu of HTL certification.

• Proficiency at computer entry/retrieval of lab results
• Ability to utilize and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment in performing tests
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment
• Ability to prepare reagents
