Location: HTPN Downtown Dallas, TX | Department: AP Histology Lab | Shift: Evening (1:30 PM – 10:00 PM)
About the Role
The Histotechnician 3 performs and monitors a variety of anatomic procedures and processes, assumes responsibility for problem resolution, and trains others on all aspects of the department with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of technical procedures resulting in the creation of microscopic slide preparations.
- Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
- Recognize and take appropriate action when established procedures and policies are not followed.
- Perform instrument maintenance, maintain appropriate inventory of supplies, and troubleshoot as needed.
- Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
- Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
- Demonstrate and educate laboratory principles, technical skills, and provide direction to others.
- Perform all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.
- Assume leadership responsibility in the absence of Supervisor/Manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in a relevant laboratory setting.
- ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT) or ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL) certification required.
- Preferred: ASCP HT and/or HTL certified with at least 3 years of experience in routine histology, IHC, Special Stain Automation, and CAP experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols, and procedures.
- Analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
- Proficiency in performing laboratory protocols and procedures.
- Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
- Ability to foster a positive and productive work environment that enhances patient care quality.
