Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine histology procedures for tissue specimen preparation.
- Process tissue specimens, including embedding, microtomy, and H&E staining.
- Prepare and coverslip slides using manual or automated methods.
- Assist with special stains as assigned by the Histology Manager/Supervisor.
- Complete accessioning and reporting documentation accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
- File completed tissue blocks and slides.
- Follow laboratory quality control, quality assurance, and safety procedures.
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Keep the laboratory clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) with at least 1 year of Histotechnician experience within the last 10 years, or
- High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years of full-time Histotechnician experience within the last 10 years.
- HT (ASCP) certification or ASCP eligibility preferred, or equivalent qualifying experience.
- Strong experience with routine histology, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and H&E staining is required.
- Experience with Special Stains (SS) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
