About the Role
This position supports the University of North Georgia’s commitment to excellence by providing leadership and oversight for the university’s financial aid operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, and optimizing the delivery of financial aid to students.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the financial aid office, including administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies governing financial aid programs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in financial aid delivery.
- Provide strategic leadership in the planning, development, and execution of financial aid initiatives to support student enrollment and retention goals.
- Manage and mentor a team of financial aid professionals, fostering a collaborative and service-oriented work environment.
- Collaborate with university leadership, admissions, student accounts, and other departments to align financial aid strategies with institutional priorities.
- Oversee the processing, awarding, and disbursement of financial aid funds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor and analyze financial aid data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison with federal and state agencies, accrediting bodies, and other external stakeholders on financial aid matters.
- Prepare and present reports on financial aid operations, metrics, and outcomes to senior leadership and governing boards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, higher education administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in financial aid administration, with at least three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, including Title IV programs, state aid programs, and institutional policies.
- Experience with financial aid management systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
