History of Art Instructor

Part- to full-time adjunct faculty position for the instruction of online courses in the History of Art Department. This is a non-tenure-track, term appointment for the Fall 2026 semester, renewable based on unit needs, funding, and performance (not to exceed two continuous semesters). The position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics.

About the role

• 100% instructional duties, including teaching in a specific field, developing course materials, syllabi, lectures, and assignments.
• Grading student work, advising students, and holding office hours.
• Preparing for and attending all class meetings (typically 2.5 hours/week); arranging substitutes for absences—classes should not be canceled.
• Developing assignments, administering tests, evaluating student work, providing feedback, and assigning grades.
• Supervising Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) if necessary.
• Adhering to departmental, college, and university policies.

Requirements

Undergraduate Level Courses

• Master’s degree in History of Art.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the History of Art course of interest.
• Previous teaching experience (classroom or online) at the university/college level.

Graduate Level Courses

• Ph.D. in History of Art or a related field.
• Evidence of research productivity in the field of specialization for courses carrying graduate credit.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. or ABD in History of Art or a related field.
