About the role
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) seeks to attract and retain major employers, foster international investment, and enhance the quality of life for residents. As part of this mission, we are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to attract major employers to Michigan
- Engage with potential employers to understand their needs and how Michigan can meet them
- Collaborate with local communities to create a welcoming environment for new businesses
- Monitor industry trends and identify emerging opportunities for economic growth
- Prepare and present proposals to potential employers
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders including local governments, educational institutions, and industry associations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in economic development, preferably in a governmental or corporate setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in developing and implementing economic development strategies
- Knowledge of state and local economic development policies and procedures
- Understanding of international trade and investment dynamics
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strategic thinking and planning
