Histology Technologist

Job Summary

The Histotechnology Scientist performs advanced histology procedures and specialized testing to support diagnostic accuracy and ensures quality control and compliance with laboratory standards. The role contributes to complex diagnostic workflows through advanced staining techniques, method development, and technical oversight of histology processes.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs advanced staining including immunohistochemistry
• Prepares complex tissue specimens for analysis
• Develops and validates laboratory procedures
• Maintains specialized laboratory equipment
• Reviews and documents laboratory results
• Trains and mentors new staff and students
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned
• Adheres to RWJBH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in histology, medical laboratory science, or a related field preferred
• Certification as Histotechnologist, HTL, by ASCP or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain within one year of hire preferred
• At least one year of experience is preferred in performing advanced histology techniques and specialized testing
