Job Description
Prepares and processes tissue samples for routine and complex histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist. The histologic techniques include the following: fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining (H&E and Special Stains) of human tissue for evaluation. This includes complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, cryotomy, immunofluorescence, and tissue microarray.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree OR successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program. ASCP Histotechnologist Certification
- Or, ASCP Histotechnician with 3-5 years relevant experience.
- Ability to comply with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements by following established procedures in order to maintain a safe laboratory environment and to meet accreditation standards.
- Ability to be flexible as required to adapt to laboratory needs as related to testing and scheduling.
- Knowledgeable in the areas of pathology, management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histotechnology.
