Histology Specialist
About the role
We are searching for a Histology Specialist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will oversee workflow and perform quality assurance duties in the Histology section of the laboratory and serve as team leader and primary trainer for the section.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the processes and procedures performed in the Histology/AP section
- Coaches and provides input for counseling events and performance evaluations
- Develops methods, manages special projects and performs tests
- Performs and documents quality control procedures
- Performs instrument function checks, maintenance and evaluation
- Participates in the teaching of the other personnel
- Performs CoPath and other computer system operations
- Assists with regulatory (CAP, Joint Commission) compliance and inspections
Qualifications
An Associate’s degree is required. One of the following certifications from the American Society for Clinical Pathology is also required: HT - ASCP Cert- Histotechnician OR HLT - Histology Technologist. 4 years’ experience working in an anatomical pathology laboratory is required.
