Histo Tech Certified - Pathology

Responsibilities

• Preparation of specimens for microscopic evaluation by the Pathologist through the use of a microtomy, special staining, histochemistry, and other appropriate techniques in accordance with the Pathology policy and procedures.
• Versed in a range of procedures including processing, cutting, embedding of all types of tissue and body fluid samples.
• Performance of routine and special staining procedures.
• Knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable to job duties.
• Use and maintenance of histology equipment.
• Maintenance of manuals, logs and files appropriate to the department.
• Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director.

Qualifications

• HT/ASCP Certification, or equivalent, required.
• One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
