Hiring: Elementary School Teachers

Sky Island School of Nature & the Arts seeks passionate Elementary School Teachers to deliver our Origins Curriculum in a hands-on, nature-based environment. The ideal candidate will foster critical thinking and creativity in a diverse classroom.

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily Origin lessons integrating desert biome themes and Origins focal points.
• Follow schedule and transition students to multiple activities.
• Use experiential activities—outdoor labs, art projects, and mindfulness exercises—to engage students.
• Assess and document student progress; maintain accurate records and communicate with families.
• Collaborate with the Academic Director and support staff to refine curriculum and teaching methods.
• Create an inclusive, safe classroom culture that supports social-emotional learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to environmental stewardship, arts integration, and child-centered teaching.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small, dynamic team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
• Arizona teaching certificate.
• Experience in outdoor, place-based, or Montessori/experiential education.
