About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Senior Specialist to support healthcare records management operations in a fast-paced hospital environment. This position is responsible for document imaging, medical record analysis, data integrity, and patient record management while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. The ideal candidate will have prior HIM experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Imaging
    • Prepare, scan, and quality review medical records for electronic storage.
    • Upload and index records into document management and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
    • Ensure records are accurately processed and available for clinical and coding teams.
  • Health Information Management
    • Analyze medical records for completeness and assign provider deficiencies as needed.
    • Support missing documentation requests and provider queries.
    • Perform chart reconciliation, retrieval, filing, and record maintenance.
    • Assist with data integrity activities, including chart corrections and duplicate medical record resolution.
  • Vital Statistics & Compliance
    • Complete birth and death certificate documentation in accordance with state regulations.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold all HIPAA and privacy requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Customer Support
    • Respond to requests from internal departments and authorized external agencies regarding patient records.
    • Process continuity of care requests and record retrieval activities.
    • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital Health Information Management (HIM) experience.
  • Experience with medical records scanning, indexing, document imaging, or record management.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and keyboard proficiency.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage a high-volume workload.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Understanding of patient privacy, confidentiality, and healthcare security practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification.
  • RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification.
  • Experience with EMR systems and document management applications.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $15.80 - $19.70/hr. Individual compensation offered will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Schedule

Monday-Friday and every weekend; 2 weekdays off (employee choice) | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
