You will serve as a vital resource within the HIM department, navigating complex workflows to bridge the gap between patient data and clinical needs. The position requires independent management of the entire medical record lifecycle—from document imaging and chart analysis to resolving data integrity issues—while acting as a subject‑matter expert for providers and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the full spectrum of the medical record lifecycle, including high‑volume document imaging (prep, scan, index) and rigorous quality assurance.
- Analyze medical records for clinical completeness, assign and track provider deficiencies, and ensure all processes meet strict HIPAA and regulatory standards.
- Proactively maintain the Master Patient Index (MPI) by investigating and resolving complex data discrepancies, such as duplicate or unlinked medical record numbers.
- Act as an expert resource for providers and internal stakeholders, facilitating smooth workflows for rejected order reconciliation and compliant Release of Information (ROI) processing.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of Health Information Management experience in an acute care or healthcare setting, or progress toward a RHIT, RHIA, or a healthcare/business college degree program with relevant related experience (upon hire).
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and HIM applications (upon hire).
Preferred qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a health‑related field (RHIT) or completion of a healthcare degree program (RHIA) (upon hire).
- Experience with data integrity, chart analysis, and record completion workflows (upon hire).
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification (upon hire).
