HIM Quality Control Specialist

Job Description

• Follows HIM QC error monitoring procedures and escalates unresolved errors to supervisor.
• Rescans or corrects index exceptions and reviews electronic images for quality, order, and appropriate rotation.
• Verifies patient data integrity and makes necessary corrections, escalating issues as needed.
• Participates in workflow projects, testing, and providing recommendations based on best practices.
• Performs quality checks on exported patient health information.
• Establishes digital interfaces to ECMS and monitors daily failed reports.
• Trains new HIM colleagues and provides guidance to colleagues as needed.
• Shares knowledge with BILH colleagues regarding EHR-related questions and provides correct resources.
• Supports production environments, troubleshoots technical issues, documents findings, and participates in resolution.
• Maintains strict adherence to BILH Confidentiality policy.
• Incorporates BILH Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.
• Complies with all BILH Policies and behavioral expectations.
• Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
• Demonstrates understanding of job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
• Demonstrates commitment to meeting and exceeding customer needs and adhering to Customer Service standards.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and mandatory education.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 1 year of office experience utilizing computer systems

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Knowledge of electronic capture and retrieval systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Excellent customer service skills

Pay Range

$20.00 – $26.92
