Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintains schedules, budgets, accounts receivable, and manpower requirements and directs invoice preparation
- Develops and manages project management plans for assigned projects
- Develops and manages project scopes to meet client goals and needs
- Establishes project pricing and budgets
- Creates and maintains project schedules
- Develops and maintains project-specific quality plans
- Manages subconsultants
- Manages project assignments and tasks
- Led or participates in client meetings and presentations
- Oversees and manages staff working on projects
- Manages all technical resources on the project team
- Affords support for production tasks as required for client submissions and deliverables (CADD drawings, reports, graphics/renderings, etc.)
- Develops extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
- Coordinates and assists with marketing proposals for Section Heads, Office Managers, and Practice Leaders
- Identifies and monitors long-term program management and major project pursuits
- Aids management in decisions regarding investments in program management pursuits
- Assembles and leads teams for pursuit of projects and programs
- Mentors and trains less experienced staff
- Provides quality control reviews of submittals and deliverables
Required Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Professional Engineer License
- 15+ years’ experience in specialized discipline
- Recent knowledge of VDOT design criteria/manuals and procedures, and CADD design software (Open Roads Designer and/or Microstation with 3D modeling experience)
Preferred Experience
- CAPM or PMP
- Experience working with local clients at the county, state, and Federal level
- Project management and business development experience
- Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3
- Technical expertise in multiple areas of transportation engineering such as NEPA, traffic, stormwater, ADA compliance, roadway design, structural design, landscape design, etc.
- Experience with ISO certified Quality Management programs
- Experience managing multidiscipline project teams
Working Conditions
- General office environment 95% of the time
- Sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking
- Adequate lighting and temperature
- No hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment
- Occasional field work where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
- Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed
