Highway Maintenance Worker II Heavy Equipment Operator (61033629)

Responsibilities

• Operates excavator mounted tree cutter (track-hoe) for cutting and clearing brush, shrubs and trees from the right-of-way in Richland County and occasionally other counties in the state.
• Operates boom mowers, slope mowers, and/or batwing mowers in roadside and right-of-way clearing operations using proper mowing techniques.
• Operates long reach excavator in cleaning side line ditches, trenching for pipelines, laying pipe and loading trucks with fill dirt.
• Operates tractor-trailer to transport heavy motorized equipment throughout the district and other counties in the district.
• Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, to include operating medium or heavy duty equipment.
• Must keep proper documentation of work performed, materials used and work locations.
• Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.

Requirements

• One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
