Job Responsibilities
- Performs skilled manual labor and operates equipment such as excavator, backhoe, dozer, front end loader, lowboy truck tractor, and motor grader.
- Operates equipment such as tandem dump trucks with trailers for hauling material and transporting equipment.
- Operates equipment such as pile driver, skid steer, and large rollers (> 4 tons).
- Operates small tools and power tools involved in bridge construction and repair.
- Signals crane operator while performing various bridge construction/repair activities.
- Rigs lifted materials and bridge components.
- Coordinates placement of traffic control devices for work zones.
- Assists in emergency or inclement weather operations.
- Operates salt brine anti-icing equipment and snow removal vehicles.
Necessary Special Requirements
- A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
- Must attain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
Physical Demands
- Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Walking for extended periods.
- Treading rough terrain.
- Working in close proximity to motoring traffic.
- Working in natural environmental hazards.
- May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
