Highway Maintenance

About the role

Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is seeking full‑time Highway Maintenance Technicians to perform maintenance operations in the Austin, Texas area. The position is based in Hutto, TX and involves a variety of highway maintenance tasks, debris removal, sign and guardrail repair, concrete repair, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of related experience
• Roadway maintenance experience
• Concrete forming/repair experience
• Experience operating Wheel Loader, Skidsteer, Fork Lift, Asphalt Roller, etc.
• Valid active driver’s license

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Maintain company standards for background checks (criminal record, driving record, controlled substance/drug testing)
• Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Ability to carry out simple arithmetic functions
• Maintain proper safety equipment for each job
• Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
• Ability to use smartphone and applications
• Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
• Ability to work safely under varying environmental and weather conditions
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly while twisting; other strenuous manual labor may be required
• Ability to operate hand and power tools

Pay

Starting rate of $18.00/hr (no prior highway maintenance experience required). Total compensation includes base pay, profitability‑based bonus, recognition incentives, and training opportunities.

Schedule

Full time; Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm day shift, with some night and weekend work if needed. Must be flexible to work during snow and ice weather events.
