About the role

Are you an experienced Highway Design Project Manager ready to lead complex transportation infrastructure projects across New York State? At Fisher Associates, you’ll manage high-visibility highway and roadway design projects from preliminary design through PS&E, permitting, and construction support, working directly with NYSDOT and local agencies to deliver safe, resilient, and community-focused transportation solutions. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams on corridor improvements, intersection upgrades, and federally funded transportation programs, guiding projects from concept through completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of highway transportation projects from scoping through final design and construction support.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and staffing to ensure successful project execution.
  • Lead design strategy in collaboration with teams and clients to ensure alignment and seamless delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, permitting requirements, and quality standards.
  • Manage risk proactively and maintain strong financial performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and strengthen client relationships to support successful project outcomes and repeat business.
  • Oversee project billing, client updates, QA/QC of deliverables, and project closeout.
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimates for new and existing clients.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineering staff.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years of progressive highway design and transportation project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing transportation projects from preliminary design through PS&E and construction support
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and MicroStation (preferred)
  • Prominent experience managing NYSDOT highway design projects and federally funded transportation programs

    Pay

    $95,000-$135,000 annually
