About the role

Based in Pittsburgh, PA, you will work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects, utilizing your highway/roadway design expertise as a Project Engineer on transportation-related projects. You’ll be immediately engaged within a talented, diverse team to coordinate project development and delivery of several high-profile, complex highway design and construction projects in the region.

You will collaborate with local, national, and global staff to deliver successful solutions that exceed client expectations. As lead engineer on multiple projects, you’ll serve as a client-facing Jacobs representative, overseeing major tasks and deliverables, coordinating with project managers to forecast progress and staff resources, and interfacing regularly with clients and business partners.

The successful candidate will be familiar with design procedures for regional clients, including the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Familiarity with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PaDEP) Chapter 102 regulations and stormwater management design/permitting procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead engineer on several highway design and construction projects within our extensive portfolio.
• Oversee major tasks and deliverables, coordinating with project managers to forecast progress and staff resources.
• Interface regularly with clients, business partners, and internal teams.
• Apply expertise in highway/roadway design to ensure compliance with regional standards (PennDOT, PTC).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and effective transportation solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in transportation engineering with an emphasis on highway engineering projects.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Strong background in MicroStation, InRoads, or OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Local to Pittsburgh, PA.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania (preferred).
• Experience with multi-discipline highway engineering design and construction projects.
• Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) project experience.
• Experience with closed and open system drainage conveyance design, stormwater management design, and erosion control design (preferred).

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $135,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
