Highway Construction Mechanic - Cortland County Department of Public Works (Multiple Positions)

About the role

The work involves responsibility for performing both skilled and unskilled work in a number of trades while performing the construction and maintenance duties. An employee operates various types of motor equipment as well as a wide variety of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Operates various types of motor equipment as well as a wide variety of hand and power tools.
• Performs construction and maintenance duties.
• Performs related work as required.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience in a trade related to operation of construction equipment, highway bridges and road construction and maintenance such as carpentry, masonry, structural steel work, or construction equipment operation.
• Possession of a valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver's license with air brake required.

Special Requirements

• Failure to maintain a NYS Class B Driver's license with all required endorsements will result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
• Pre-employment screenings required.
