Pay

Benefits

  • Safety & Equipment Benefits: Safety Shoes: $175 annual allowance. Prescription Safety Glasses: Up to $250 annually (per policy).

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completed a High Voltage Apprenticeship Program such as that offered by Jacksonville Electric Authority
  • Verifiable work history while performing journey level work on High voltage generation and distribution systems of 12.47 kv and above for a minimum of two years
  • Familiar and knowledgeable with various types of electrical test equipment in the performance of routine maintenance/repair of associate High Voltage transmission and distribution equipment
  • Familiar and knowledgeable with safe working practices and requirements for Phasing and Hot Glove work on energized 12.47 kv systems and above
  • Capable of performing safe Hot Glove work on all energized systems as required
  • Familiar with switches, transformers, and their hookups
  • Willing to work holidays, weekends, and perform shift work

Skills

  • Familiar with safe working practices and requirements for Phasing and Hot Glove work on energized 12.47 kv systems and above
  • Repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and/or replace electrical controls, motors, switches, general street and security lighting, transformers, relays, breakers, and associated overhead/ underground distribution manuals for maintenance of oil and air circuit breakers and AC/DC power supply and control systems
  • Capable of performing safe Hot Glove work on all energized systems as required
  • Familiar with switches, transformers, and their hookups
  • Willing to work at various heights, including from a bucket truck
  • CPR certified
  • Always has and wears, hard toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standard

Requirements
