About the role
Falmouth High School seeks a dynamic and innovative full-time World Language - Spanish teacher to join the department starting in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Responsibilities
- Teach five sections of student-centered classes designed to develop creative, analytical thinkers, researchers, and problem solvers who have a deep understanding of and appreciation for world languages.
- Serve as an advisor.
- Support independent student learning initiatives.
- Take an active role in the school community in support of student learning and wellness.
Requirements
- Must hold (or be eligible to hold) the appropriate valid Maine teacher certification for Spanish for grades 9-12.
- Experience teaching Spanish is preferred.
- Must have an approved background check (run by the district).
Qualifications
- Passionate about teaching and genuine concern for students' academic growth and character development.
- Strong educational background and teaching experience in 9th - 12th grade classrooms.
- Experiences teaching AP or college level courses preferred.
- Capable of teaching a broad spectrum of French and Spanish classes and excited by the prospect of interdisciplinary instruction in the future.
- Demonstrated history of employing innovative pedagogies grounded in strong understanding of adolescent development and learning theory.
- Able to differentiate instruction and help students master the subject matter despite different skill levels or ages.
- Confidently integrates technology to advance education in the classroom.
- Prioritizes positive collegial interactions and collaborative relationships with other teachers.
- Culturally competent and supports diverse learners.
