About the role
The athletic program is an integral part of the educational process of the Bright Local Schools. It promotes participation in sports for students and the community, aiming to develop competitive student athletes while emphasizing educational values such as sportsmanship, citizenship, and scholastic achievement. The program also enhances school morale and provides an additional source of self-esteem for students.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all state and local approved certifications, ensuring they are up to date and on file with the Athletic Director and the Bright Local Board of Education offices.
- Comply with the constitution, by-laws, and competition rules of the Ohio High School Athletic Association and the Bright Local Board of Education Coaches handbook.
- Understand and adhere to the rules and regulations governing track and field.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills to motivate and develop athletes.
- Oversee and coordinate team and individual practices, training, and competition.
- Assist in monitoring and supporting student-athletes' academic progress.
- Create a safe environment designed to keep athletes healthy and injury-free.
- Serve as a role model for students in conduct, ethical principles, and democratic values.
Additional Working Conditions
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional interaction with unruly children.
Other Requirements
The employee must remain free of alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace. The role includes general duties as assigned by the supervisor, appointing authority, or designee.
