High School: Teacher Special Education Adult Transition Services (ATS) 2026-2027

About the role

Job Overview The Teacher Special Education High School ATS will provide instruction in behavior, communication, independent living, social and personal care to students with disabilities using a variety of teaching techniques, materials, and equipment. The incumbent will provide overall support and training to enhance students with disabilities transition from the high school setting to their post secondary setting. Any teacher who will coach a UIL sport will also provide athletic services related to that athletic sport and the athletic program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare students with disabilities to become contributing members of the community through employment, education, training, independent life skills and self-advocacy
• Conduct Person-Centered Planning Assessments (e.g., Life Plan)
• Coordinate a set of activities for individual students focused on improving student academic and functional achievement in order to facilitate movement from school to adult life
• Build relationships with the community to facilitate training and instruction in real environments
• Communicate effectively with students, professional staff, parents, and community in a positive manner
• Collaborate with appropriate agencies, community groups, and colleges as needed
• Execute behavioral strategies as identified by the students’ ARD
