About the role

Teaches and facilitates learning and maintains academic progress, discipline, and records for students at the high school grade level. Works with parents and students to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs through lectures, discussions and demonstrations in one or more subjects such as English, mathematics, or social studies
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
  • Creates, administers, and grades tests to evaluate student progress
  • Establishes and enforces rules and procedures which help to maintain order in the classroom
  • Observes, evaluates, and prepares reports on the progress of students
  • Discusses students’ problems and progress with parents and staff
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
  • Prepares classroom instructions to promote students’ success on state assessment exams
  • Observes, enforces and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school district

Requirements

  • Current valid teaching license through KSDE
  • Social Studies Endorsement required

Qualifications

  • Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
  • Working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks
  • Working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Understanding and responding appropriately to customer needs and maintaining a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
  • Interacting with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and providing quick, responsive customer service
  • Punctuality and appropriate appearance required
