High School Science Teacher

About the role

Hawaii Technology Academy (HTA), a statewide public charter school, seeks a dynamic and innovative high school science teacher to deliver engaging instruction within a blended learning environment. This position supports HTA’s mission-driven instructional model through both face-to-face and virtual learning modalities.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily face-to-face and online instruction to students in various high school science, and/or STEM courses.
• Preparing courses and designing project-based lessons;
• Serving as a high school advisor with a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focus in line with school guidelines;
• Holding tutoring sessions with individual students and small groups;
• Organizing subject-specific field trips and projects in accordance with school safety and administrative approval protocols.
• Collaborating with content teachers in our professional learning community (PLC) meetings;
• Researching and developing best practices in blended learning Science curricula for high school school students as part of Professional Development expectations;
• Working collaboratively with Administration and the high school team;
• Participating in required meetings, professional development, and school events.

Requirements

• A Valid Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) teaching license appropriate to the position. Preferably Science or STEM license designation.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a Science field, Engineering, or Education.
• A minimum of three years experience teaching a wide range of middle and/or upper school Science or STEM courses.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license if hired without one.
• Enrollment in a Teacher's Education Program to continue employment with the HTA PCS.
• Satisfactory demonstration of active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).

• Paid Sick Leave and State/Federal Holidays: 18 days of paid sick leave (of which 10 days can be utilized for personal and/or professional development purposes) during the school year provided that all conditions under the respective collective bargaining agreement are met.

Pay

Salary Range: $56,918.00- $95,632.00 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Schedule

10-month appointment starting July 27, 2026, with new hire training on July 23-24, 2026.
