About the role

The High School Health Teacher position for the 2026-2027 school year is located at 16 Harrison Central High. This full-time, licensed position is exempt from overtime pay.

Essential Functions

  • Absorb and adhere to the Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct a curriculum aligned with the Mississippi Standards/Frameworks.
  • Custodianship of assigned students, ensuring their safety and welfare.
  • Participation in pre-school conferences, in-service training, and other faculty meetings.
  • Perform extra-curricular duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Coordinate with other professional staff members and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Ensure classes are in session daily and report absences to the principal.
  • Maintain school property and equipment, and enforce school policies.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, assess student learning, and modify instruction.
  • Communicate with parents and encourage parental involvement in student education.
  • Maintain a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and modify instructional methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Notify the principal of anticipated absences and obtain approval when required.
  • Avoid doctrinal, sectarian, and denominational teaching.
  • Achieve professional growth by attending seminars, workshops, and professional meetings.
  • Support the enforcement of all Board of Trustees' policies and procedures.

Educational Requirements

All instructional personnel must be certified and licensed in accordance with state law and the regulations of the Mississippi Department of Education. Licensure and transcripts must be on file in the Superintendent's office. A criminal background check and child abuse registry check are required.

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory employment record.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and conducting a curriculum aligned with the Mississippi Standards/Frameworks.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Effective communication skills, including parent-teacher communication.
  • Ability to modify instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Experience in extra-curricular duties and coordination with other professional staff members.
