The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times
• Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Guides the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals
• Employs various instructional techniques and media
• Assesses student accomplishments and provides progress reports
• Maintains accurate records and maintains a positive classroom environment
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks assistance from district specialists
• Takes necessary precautions to ensure safety
• Enforces classroom rules and develops rules of classroom behavior
• Supervises assignments for paraprofessionals and provides evaluations
• Maintains ongoing professional growth
• Participates in the teacher evaluation process
• Attends building and district meetings
• Attends school-sponsored activities
• Contributes to decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well-being
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence

Qualifications

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area
• Appropriate content/program area educator license (Foreign Language) and grade level (5-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years
