About the role

The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
• Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Guides the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals.
• Employs various instructional techniques and media, consistent with physical constraints and student capabilities.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Maintains accurate records and maintains an ongoing program of professional growth.
• Takes an active part in the teacher evaluation process and contributes to mutual agreements.
• Attends building and district meetings to promote communication and mutual decision-making.
• Contributes to decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well-being.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Requirements

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
• Appropriate content/program area educator license (English as a Second Language) and grade level (5-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
