About the role
The New Standard offers a family-like atmosphere focused on serving the whole child and the community, aligning with our mission: "Serving the city of Flint with a higher standard in educational excellence and community wellness." We are seeking a high school teacher to deliver English Language Arts (ELA) and facilitate other courses using the district-adopted curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Teach ELA to high school students
- Facilitate additional courses as assigned
- Utilize effective and innovative instructional techniques
- Apply student evaluation methods
- Integrate instructional technology into teaching
- Collaborate with other teachers to promote interdisciplinary studies
- Maintain strong interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff, and the public
Requirements
- Michigan Teacher Certification
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques
- Familiarity with instructional technology and its applications in teaching
- Willingness to work collaboratively with other teachers
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
Pay
Starting salary: $50,000 (negotiable). Pay increases are based on experience.
Schedule
Starting date: 2026–2027 school year.
