Responsibilities
- Teach fundamental economic concepts, including scarcity, supply and demand, market structures, macroeconomic indicators, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade, and personal finance.
- Explain key topics such as opportunity cost, market equilibrium, GDP, inflation, and comparative advantage to prepare students for AP Economics, state assessments, and economic literacy.
- Guide students through supply and demand analysis, economic graph construction, and policy evaluation at the high school level.
- Help students plot supply and demand curves, calculate GDP, analyze monetary policy effects, evaluate trade agreements, and make personal financial decisions.
- Emphasize graphical analysis and critical thinking, connecting economics to personal finance and current policy debates.
- Adapt instruction using real-world examples, simulation activities, and graph-drawing practice to support students from introductory to honors and pre-AP levels.
- Identify and address common student challenges, such as understanding abstract economic models and reading supply and demand graphs.
- Use multiple teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and styles.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of high school economics curricula and key concepts.
- Ability to explain complex topics clearly and adapt instruction to different learning styles.
- Strong communication skills and an engaging teaching style.
- Experience teaching or tutoring economics at the high school level (preferred).
- Familiarity with AP Economics, state assessments, and economic literacy standards.
