About the role
The Northeast Academy for Aerospace & Advanced Technologies is a public regional STEM school. Teachers here facilitate learning through hands-on, project-based instruction, encouraging students to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, and collaborate.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous, engaging lessons tailored to individual student strengths
- Engage all students in learning using a contextual project-based instructional format
- Lead students to develop soft skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration
- Utilize technology to facilitate instruction and maximize student learning
- Employ a variety of assessment tools and strategies to measure student progress toward learning goals
- Select and utilize different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
- Counsel students through the Advisory Program, promoting high expectations and the skills needed for success beyond high school
- Promote family support of students’ learning experience within the context of multicultural understanding and competencies
- Develop and provide training and educational programs addressing the goals and mission of the educational institution
- Demonstrate personal commitment to professional growth through participation in professional learning activities
- Contribute as a member of a high-performing team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; Master’s degree or higher preferred
- Minimum of three years experience as a middle or high school teacher preferred
- NC Professional Educator’s License preferred, but not required; Must be eligible to obtain license within 3 years
- A deep commitment to serving the needs of students and families who are first-generation college-goers and those typically underrepresented in postsecondary education and STEM fields

- Strong academic foundation with the ability to integrate STEM across content areas
- Understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success
- Familiarity with current trends and leading innovations in education
- Intrinsically motivated and dedicated to continuous professional and personal growth
- Ability to effectively engage parents and community in the learning process
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, both written and oral
- Understands the critical nature of building positive working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Effective in integrating technology into the classroom to enhance learning

Pay
- $70,084 per year for High School Science Coach/Teacher
- $71,884 per year for High School History Coach/Teacher
- $56,647 per year for Athletic Coach-Basketball
Schedule
- Full-time employment for 10 months
