An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in hydraulic systems and mechanical equipment design, particularly for high-pressure equipment. This hands-on role involves designing, building, testing, and improving complex industrial machinery, with approximately 50% of time spent supporting equipment assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation in the shop.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop hydraulic and mechanical systems for industrial equipment.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
- Perform mechanical analysis, including component sizing, material selection, stress considerations, and design validation.
- Develop and evaluate prototypes, perform testing, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements.
- Provide mechanical design expertise and technical input to support projects led by other engineers.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to solve complex technical problems.
- Document engineering designs, revisions, and test results.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency with PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic components, circuits, valves, pumps, cylinders, and system diagnostics.
- Solid understanding of material properties, mechanical strength, stress analysis, and engineering design principles.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-temperature, high-pressure press systems, particularly those used in industrial diamond or similar manufacturing processes.
- Project management experience, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating engineering projects.
- Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
