About the role

Midtown is seeking a High Performance Tennis Professional to engage members and foster their love of tennis. This individual will deliver high-quality tennis training for competitive junior players, serving as an ambassador for junior competitive tennis within the club and externally. The role requires adaptability, energy, and a passion for inspiring players in a dynamic, people-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the High Performance (HP) Manager in planning, organizing, and delivering HP programs, including sessional programs, holiday and summer camps, tournaments, and special events.
  • Bring positive energy, encouragement, and enthusiasm to every practice or lesson to foster program growth and player development.
  • Ensure HP program delivery aligns with Midtown brand standards and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with the HP Manager and Racquet Sports Manager on program development, coach training, and methodologies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized tennis court environment, including equipment like ball carts, balls, and teaching aids.
  • Prioritize member engagement by being present and accessible to players and their parents.
  • Coach groups in the HP program and pathway, generate private and semi-private lessons, and teach adult programs as needed.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet program needs.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings with the HP Manager and coaching team.
  • Promote the High Performance program locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Travel to domestic tournaments as required.
  • Complete additional assignments as directed by the HP Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with High Performance players.
  • Ability to compete and hit with UTR 10+ players.
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated passion for tennis.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Current certification with either the PTR or USPTA.

Pay

Full-time Midtown coaches earn an on-court rate between $40–$50 per hour, depending on credentials and experience. The standard administrative rate is $15 per hour.
