About the role
A High Dosage Tutor works directly with elementary and middle school-aged students, providing tutoring and instructional support in reading and math. Tutors assist students with mastery of grade-level academic standards in a small-group setting of up to three students. This is a seasonal, part-time position with schedules ranging from 2 to 3.5 hours per day during after-school hours, five days a week. Work schedules are subject to change based on the needs of Think Together.
Responsibilities
- Provide small-group and individual interventions to help students master instructional materials.
- Engage children and youth by following and implementing the intervention curriculum.
- Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication.
- Accurately score student assessments and monitor student progress.
- Assist school staff with devising special strategies for reinforcing material based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Alert the Student and Family Literacy Coordinator of any concerns or special information about individual students.
- Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality as expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Participate in in-service training sessions as assigned.
- Operate and care for equipment and instructional materials.
- Keep daily records of individual student attendance.
- Complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Arrive punctually to meet site start-up and assignment responsibilities.
- Maintain close communication with the Program Analyst regarding planned or emergency absences.
- Serve as a positive role model for children through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and courtesy.
- Assist in maintaining the site to Think Together standards.
- Comply with organization and site policies and follow procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proof of graduation from high school or GED.
- 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units, or passing a pre-employment test.
- Experience working with young children preferred, along with the ability to inspire and motivate.
Pay
$21.00/hour
Schedule
- Part-time, seasonal position.
